Saraswati Vidya Mandir – Education System

Saraswati Vidya Mandir and high schools and intermediate colleges under different names, affiliated with the Bharatiya Shiksha Samiti, are running in Uttar Pradesh. The Education Committee has made desired improvements in the education system up to class 8 and developed it in a life-useful format as per the Indian needs. This is popular by the name of Saraswati Vidya Mandir education system. This innovative education system has attracted the attention of society and educationists. These Vidya Mandirs have a reputation as centers of excellent education, discipline, etiquette and good values for children.

Five Faced Education:
In Saraswati Vidya Mandir, there is a system of Panchmukhi education with a view to all round development of the child. Panchmukhi education has the following parts –

1.Physical education

The objective of physical education is to strengthen the body, develop its powers and abilities, develop organs and nerves and inculcate the habit of clean and proper diet. This includes various types of exercises, yogasana, pranayam, various types of modern and ancient Indian sports. The order of programs like running, jumping, throwing, running and scouting etc. is fixed. Besides, theoretical aspect knowledge in the form of health science is also imparted to the students.

2.Vocational education

Under this, students have to be taught production work. Make something with your own hands like making exercise books, file covers, chalk, ink duster, candle, soap, paper, clay, mummy and plaster of paris toys, photography, gardening and agriculture. The main goal of vocational education is to develop interest in manual work among students and to awaken respect for labor so that they can play their role efficiently in production work in future.

3. Mental Education

Education of various subjects has been included in it! These subjects are – (1) Hindi (2) Sanskrit (3) English (4) Mathematics (5) Science (6) Social Subject (7) Craft/Agriculture (Painting/Commerce/Music) Physical and Yoga Education (1) Moral and spiritual education! The objective of mental education is to provide knowledge of these various subjects and to develop the child's mental powers like decision, imagination, memory, observation, analysis, synthesis, comparison, inference, conclusion etc.

4. Moral Education

Without the basis of moral education, the physical and mental development of man can prove to be harmful for social life. Therefore, moral education has been given an important place in the Saraswati Vidya Mandir education system. Moral education is the education of the heart. Through this, active loyalty and knowledge-filled devotion towards one's own religion, one's culture and one's country should be awakened in the students. Virtues like integrity, devotion to duty, charity, service, love, selflessness, Brahmayoga attitude, courage, discipline, etiquette etc. have to be developed in the heart of the child.

5. Spiritual Education

Physical, vocational, mental and moral education is necessary for the development of life, but what is this life for? That is, what is the purpose of life? Spiritual education is necessary to solve this! According to the Indian philosophy of life, there is an eternal, conscious being, the Supreme Principle, present in this entire living world, which is the controller of this world. It is situated within every person in the form of soul. The ultimate goal of life is to realize and express this soul element and to establish unity with the divine element i.e. the living world. Through spiritual education, the child has to be made aware of this life goal and the above mentioned feelings of soul and divine element are imprinted on his mind in the form of sanskar.

6. Syllabus

Uttar Pradesh State Education Department has prescribed the syllabus of Hindi, Sanskrit, English, Mathematics, Science, Social Subject, Craft/Agriculture/Painting/Commerce/Music subjects and text books of the first seven subjects of class 6, 7, 8. These text books and curriculum have been adopted by the Indian Education Committee. Apart from this, it has set its own curriculum for two subjects: physical education, moral and spiritual education. Efforts are underway to prepare text books for these subjects also. The appropriate syllabus has been published! A special thing worth mentioning about this course is that the syllabus of each subject has been divided into five units for the convenience of teaching. Each unit will be evaluated through two monthly examinations, half-yearly and annual examination.
